I was excited to hear that Liberty London were running a second open call this year as the first one was more for designers of objects, however the second one was for patterns.
So l headed off to a nursery nearby to take some photos of flowers to have new sources for my Liberty pattern. I then worked on the pattern over a number of weeks but had to watch l didn't rework it too much. I then had a pattern with which l was pleased.
On 31st October l submitted my entry via Instagram, using the hashtag LibertyOpenCall, the closing date was 1st November. I then had a look at some of the other submissions on Instagram, some very talented people out there and decided that my pattern wasn't punchy enough. So over the course of an afternoon l changed the colours and deleted the previous entry and resubmitted my punchier pattern.
The design on the left was the first entry which almost appears as if it's opacity was reduced, the second was the final entry, let's hope l made the right decision!
